Re: Bio- diesel refining using waste Methane gas ?????

[ QUOTE ]
I was just thinking that a decent sized compost facility, properly layedout and plumbed could add asignificant amount of heat to a small commercial biodiesel facility. At a minimum heating the workspace and warming WVO stock in coold climates. I was envisioning insulated with radiant heat lines in the base slap, a roof of some sort, etc. I've seen somea large faciltities. Feeding the piles with some glycerin would kick up the reaction a bit too. An anaerobic digester is different monster all together.

It has been done and they report that the liquid returning from the pile is over 120 deg f.
I can not find the link, dangit, just looked at it last night.
If I find it I will post it.
Basically, the set up 4 55 g barrels at different elevations, pump water from the building out to the highest barrel and allow gravity to feed from barrel to barrel the nback into the building. All the barrels and piping are under the compost pile.
They were using WVO instead of water but due to a fire inside the pile, the switch to water.
They had seeded the mulch pile with fertilizer when building it and got to much of a concentration of fert in one place on a peice of pvc pipe, which metled the pipe and ignited.
If I only had the room, heat WVO, heck heat the house!
