Re: Bio you buy at the station

PROS:

Your not supporting foreign oil, your exhaust smells like french fries, your engine MAY run quieter, you are actually producing LESS pollution, your supporting american farmers, NON-TOXIC!!! (not that i recomend drinking it).

CONS:

Bio-D does not like EXTREME cold in its pure form. Must mix with regular diesel to get cold weather abilities, can plug your fuel filter as it cleans your fuel system of old diesel sludge (bio-D is also a GREAT solvent), costs more than regular diesel (unless you make your own), you MAY see a slight decrease in power and fuel mileage, but that is very vehicle specific. Some actually do better.

Over-all, if you can get it, and can afford it, RUN IT! You can mix it with regular diesel fuel in any percentage, with B-20 (20% bio-D) being the most popular.

Re: Bio you buy at the station

Biggest con right now is price.

I run B-13. I mix 5g of B-100 w/ my regular #2 in a 38g tank. I have no problems, and I get 18.7 mpg unloaded @ 70. Where I get it, it's B-100 @ $2.95/g (w/o road tax).

If they could get the cost down to parity w/ #2, I'd run B-100 from may to oct, and B-50 from nov - apr.
