Biodiesel and the 6.4

So I finally got my answer back from Ford on biodiesel. If you use more than B-5 (and good luck determining what any particular station has at any given time) your warranty will be voided for any problems that they determine were caused by fuel. It was like pulling teeth to get this out of them, but that was the answer.

I love my 7.3, but am sad to say that another diesel is not in the cards with the crappy mileage, the additional upfront costs, the biodiesel issue, and the higher cost of diesel at the pumps. So I will swallow hard and buy the 5.4. I know I wont get the performance, but with twins on the way, that is the ticket.

That was in my 03 diesel supplement, too. Its pretty much what the injector manufacturer's are saying they'll cover.

The thing I think many of us forget, is Ford doesn't cover "bad fuel" at all. If we get a bad or dirty batch of #2, and it causes problems, Ford will deny coverage - take it up with who sold you the fuel. Includes ATF, Alcohol, UMO, gasoline, bio "blends", diesel secret, kerosene, jp-5, jet-a, crude & bunker oils, etc. If any of those are present in the "fuel" Ford has the right to deny coverage.

Re: Biodiesel and the 6.4

I'll bet Bio would run just fine if it is CLEAN.

Would I bet a 50k truck on it? Uhm, not really.

Re: Biodiesel and the 6.4

Yes it does. Ran a tank of B-10 (on the pump) from Flying J. Didn't know it til after I had filled. Ran just fine.

Re: Biodiesel and the 6.4

i think as ford says there is too much variance in quality out there and if you get a dirty, not filtered enough batch youll clog rite up, and i hear that the injectors are in the neighborhood of $500ea.
I wont go much above b10(some places have b10 at the pump and dont lable it as such) till warrenty runs out... By that time there should of been enough genie pigs that went b4 me. :P
