It's not a bad idea, given the chances of when, not if, of getting contaminated or dirty fuel.
Here's a couple ideas:
TDS vendor, ITP Diesel pre-pump fuel filter kit for the 7.3:
ITP 7.3L Fuel Tank / Pre-Pump Kit This is a good kit. I've helped a 7.3 owner install it and it's pretty easy, the hardest part is lowering the tank (true for both kits). I have no idea if Dennis (ITP owner) will sell the kit without the 7.3-unique parts.
Do it yourself:

A careful look at both will show a common design feature: the use of biodiesel compatible fuel hose. If you want to run bio-compatible hose, do NOT use SAE J30R7 standard fuel line hose (cost = $1/ft.) Use SAE J30R9 Fuel Injection Hose (cost = $4/ft.).
You'll also note that both kits replace the entire fuel line from the tank to the pump. This is good since it eliminates the vacuum-leaky quick disconnects that Ford uses - which are great for pressure but leak air under vacuum, which is bad news for diesel fuel system.
Note that both the Baldwin and the Wix/Napa fuel filters are only rated to about B20. If you want to run B100 all the time, then you'll have to go to places like JMEsales.com and find a B100 bio-compatible filter that will fit the ITP kit or the Wix fuel filter head 1"-14 threads (which is a standard fuel filter thread).
Good luck.
