Brewing in San Antonio

I'm sick and tired of paying out the *** for fuel. I have decided to give Biodiesel a shot. I was wondering if anyone is making their own in San Antonio and would be willing to teach myself to become more independent.

Re: Brewing in San Antonio

I dont know of anyone brewing in the SA area but I'd be interested also. Maybe if we find enough interested people we can just build our own setup?

Re: Brewing in San Antonio

I guess fuel prices in the SA area are just not high enough. In a town over a mil we can only drum up 2!
Maybe we can get permission form the Moderators to allow an information post on the 7.3 portion of the board. What say you Mr. Moderator?

Re: Brewing in San Antonio

I might be intereseted in seeing how its done. Although I don't use that much a week. Probably 1/2 a tank. If prices keep going up I might swap my truck for my wife's Suburban and let her drive my truck all over town. Might help the pocketbook.

Re: Brewing in San Antonio

Try asking around here. Might have a better response.

Also try here.
I started out by reading Girl Mark's book and asking a lot of questions. The people over there are extremely helpful.

Re: Brewing in San Antonio

I'm also interested. I would like to help form a bio-group, here in San Antonio. It was suggested to me by a bio-resaler in Austin that we form a buyers group to purchase raw vegetable oil or processed bio-diesel at a wholesale price.

Anybody else hear anything that could help get this going?

Re: Brewing in San Antonio

Wouldn't buying raw veg oil or processed bio-diesel defeat the purpose of doing it yourself? I would love to get this going and if it meant forming a type of Co-Op then I would be willing to consider. But what I have found, the bigger the organization the more red tape and politics are involved. I then also have seen a few do the work and the rest profit.

What I had in mind was myself have a system, you have yours and others doing the same. Even a couple of folks going in together with a system would be OK. We would then be able to provide support to each other. Exmple: I have way too much wvo does anyone need some? I just got a ton of methenol lets split it up and save some money. I just found out a way to perfect our process, lets get together and see how it works.

That is what I'm looking for. I may be off in Right field but I would like to look at this as a hobbie, take away the fun and it's a job.

I just moved to San Antonio, and I am also looking to make my own fuel. I have been researching this website Diesel Secret Energy - Alternative Biofuel Biodiesel it seems very simple to get this started. For the cost of a tank of gas we each can get this started. My only concern is how will this affect my engine? Are the miles per gallon going to go down? How about the power? Will there be any build up that may create $$$$$ expensive problems? I am willing to give this a shot, but I would like to know if anyone has tried or heard someone that has tried. It is very attractive to reduce the price per gallon to only $00.46 cents. If anyone has information let's share it and get started!

I'm brewing here in houston. Not that hard at all. Just start small and learn the process, methods and types of setups. I wasted a lot of money, not planning properly. I have learned a lot from this website and from trial and error, which sometimes gets expensive. PM me if you want to call and chat. I'm sure I could save you some time and headache, but I am by no means a pro yet.
