Re: can i?

The straight Skinny....YES you can. And NO you can't . There are only 2 things you need to know about SVO/WVO. First it needs to be Thinned out, and second it needs to be filtered. EVERYTHING else revolves around how to do just that. Some people heat it to thin it enough to use, some process it into BIO, and some simply mix it with #2. Because it becomes a solid at roughly 25-40 degrees(depending on quality, type and use of oil) You can not live in North Dakota in the winter and just pour it in your tank and go. If you live in Kuwait, where it doesn't get below 100 during the summer, you could get away with it. Several, including myself have mixed it with #2 in ratios up to about 75% WVO to 25% diesel with no problems in the factory unheated tank. But only if you are in a warm environment, meaning doesn't get much below about 65-70. And you will need to carry a spare fuel filter. The colder your climate, the more diesel you need to add to the ratio.

Several of us have gone through the effort of installing a second heated fuel system just for WVO so climate and seasons are not an issue. Just pour and drive. There is a lot to take in when getting into this, unfortunately there is no quick easy answer. But this is a great place with great people. And you will learn much. Journey To Forever has a lot of great information on Biodiesel and WVO as fuel.

Re: can i?

I would highly recommend either installing a heated 2 tank system or processing into biodiesel. I tried just dumping it in the tank and I couldn't get it clean enough to work right but the processed biodiesel has been much less troublesome,a nd it's noty all that hard to make. Just time consuming and tedious, but it's also kinda cool . But FN74 is the guy to talk to about a heated fuel system. There are also several comapanies that sell complete systems. Much to look into for you...lots of options, good luck with them

Re: can i?

well--first i use only the oil of the top of the barrel--not the junk--then i add biocide to it--1 oz to 10 gallons--i want no bugs!!!!!!!!!! then i use a 2/3 1/3 mix-oil being 2/3--then i run it thru three filters--20-then 10 mic-then 5 mic--2 hrs after mixing the oil and diesel--why--so it gives the bugs in the oil time to die--and you can see them as small specs in the oil--60 microns is a human hair-----and since ive waited for the bugs to die--have had no filter problems whatsoever in the 96 pwr--or the 96 passat----but when it gets to around 50 degrees--ill start using the bio ill start making soon---and in varing amounts as its gets colder!!!!!!
