Car Talk

Did anyone happen to listen to car talk last weekend? I don't usually listen on the weekends but Ijust caught the online version. They had a caller ask about bio-diesel. He was looking for a small 4x4 that could run bio. The advice he got was interesting, not only could they not come up with a list of diesel cars they explained what a pain in the a#@ WVO systems are and called it bio.

I know that the advice they give is generally more for entertainment then anything else but this was really sad. Anyone want to call in next week and ask another question?

Re: Car Talk

Ditto, but I would like to see more fleets using biodiesel and start putting money back into the local economies and giving farmers a boost.

Re: Car Talk

yep I listened and said ***? Guy's dont know jack about diesels anyways. They always get a caller wanting to know what kind of CAR to get with a family of 4 and they spout minivans and junk like that when the caller wants a car. Never do they mention getting a crown vic or gran marquis, always some foreign high priced car that doesnt have as much room in it. OTOH I was watching this wisconsin made show on PBS and they had a bit on using waste oil for a diesel. I think the guy was driving around an old jetta, he had a tank on the passenger floor where he had the heat exchanger for the oil and a few switches for the pumps. He would go to the resteraunts, pump out the oil from the waste bins and run it through a filter into a bucket and then right into his tank. He rarely filled his regular tank with diesel and ran mostly off the used oil.

Re: Car Talk

The Car Talk guys apologized this weekend for thier bad info. However, you could tell they still didn't fully understand it. They said they got thousands of emails regarding their mistake, so they had to say something.
