Looking to both improve performance, and run bio-diesel.Are the two mutually exclusive??I'm going to install Bean's stage 2's in my truck, and want to know if the two are compatible.I'm a virgin to the bio thing and want to research it as much as possible before I take a leap!! Thanks in advance!!!

And what are Bean's stage 2's anyway? I think StorminNorman is right. Read first. A lot of people seem to expect those of us that did the research to make biod to jump out and give all the answers over and over again. So do some searches & post from there.

Biodiesel has a higher cetane rating but slightly lower calorific content than #2 petrodiesel.
I got into biodiesel because I didn't want to sink $2k into a WVO system on my daily driver and not have it work. I prefer to keep the experimentation on the reactor trailer.
Biodiesel has greater lubricating properties than #2, lower CO and CO2 emissions and you'll sail through the opacity test.
Your learning curve is just starting, but DO NOT GIVE UP. There are lots of resources to read, people to talk to, who will be more than willing to help you in your learning process.
I recommend www.biodieselcommunity.org. They have a well-written primer on biodiesel, how it is made, and various setups that people have made.
