Decided to take the plunge, having trouble getting BioDiesel now..

So I decided to take the plunge and try to get some BioDiesel. We have 5 Diesel trucks so I wanted to start out with some 55 gallon barrels.

There are no pump locations in Florida, so I decided to contact a bunch of retailers from the biodiesel.org page. So far only one has gotten back to me, and they only wanted to sell it to me in truckloads.. Not gonna work for me.

So, does anyone know where I can get BioDiesel (B20) in 55 gallon barrels, delivered?

Re: Decided to take the plunge, having trouble getting BioDiesel now..

If you want to start out with "some" 55 gallon drums (as in more than one), can you possibly take a whole tank? Most fuel distributors will loan and place a tank for you, and deliver straight to it, if you think you're going to be doing any kind of volume. (Think of how home heating oil is handled.) Unless you live in a dense neighborhood with tiny lots (like I do), maybe you could get a tank placed outside and let them do all the delivery work, instead of toting drums yourself.

Re: Decided to take the plunge, having trouble getting BioDiesel now..

You might be better off with a 300g carboy of B-100 & mixing to +/-B-20. There is a local fram store here that sells the carboys (square plastic tank w/ metal cage around it, a valve at the bottom, & a filler cap). Would weigh something like 22-2500 pounds full.

I think you'd have a better chance of getting that than 55g drums of B-20, unless you went to the nearest filling station (GA, maybe) & filled a drum from the pump. The B-100 probablly would not have road tax on it either.
