Has anyone used dieselsecret.com's product? I know of someone who has and likes it. I am very skeptical about it, but I wanted to see if anyone else has used it.
This is better known as DIESEL BLENDING and people have been doing it for years. You face 2 hurdles and the first one is you need a good steady supply of WVO and number 2 is the filtering instructions leaves out the part that you MUST prefilter the oil and it also needs to settle for a few days. By prefilter I mean you cant just run it through the 15 micron filter as they have you beleive or it will clog it up in minutes unless the oil is heated. Just be prepared to have some time to experiment with prefiltering before you think you can just turn on pump and run it in truck. Many have used the bluejean meathod of closing the pant legs and filling with the oil and let it filter over night in to a drum. That works or you can buy long filter bags. Just search internet for filter bags.

I have been running it for about 1 1\2 months and is working great, but like Jim said make sure you let the oil settle and pre filter it before you run it thru the house hold filters. If you dont, your filters will clog in a matter of minutes. I do have a electric fuel pump and two very good filters on my truck (Dahl 150 and CAT 2 micron) maybe thats why I have not had any issues. Alot will say this method of blending will destroy your engine, I'm at 187K I know I know its just getting broken in , but if my engine fails I will rebuild it or by another and yes I will post if I have a problem. I refuse to let my truck sit and on the other had I cant afford $4.37 a gallon so I figured I would give DSE a shot and so far so good, time will tell. Good luck

I just bought the DSE system and as far as i am concerned it is a bunch of crap. I ran about 60 gallons through my truck and now every filter got clogged and my injectors are very dirty. I took the fuel pump out of the tank and took a peek inside and the hole tank was covered in a white grease. Im gonna try to modify my mixture and hopefully it works this time around.

If this was on your 97 in your sig they dont have a pump in the tank unless you installed a pump in both tanks. Do you have another truck, post 99 that has a single tank, now that I think about it they have a frame mounted pump Good luck with that

I too was scamed into buying the DSE, but i started doing research on it and decided to go with biodiesel instead. So far i'm into it about $350 in processing equipment and about 150 gal of WVO saved up. All I have left is to build the wash dry tank and Im ready to brew. Go with Biodiesel, the start up cost will make up for the $4.50 gal #2 in no time and you be using a fuel that is equally as good. However I am glad I bought the DSE cause it lead me to making biodiesel. Its still sitting on melf shelf, The bottle of snake oil, the crushed up poorly shipped box it came in and the Manual which is equally as crushed and torn from shipping. The manual is a joke BTW.

...Excuse me if I laugh my azz off over here! You were scammed, huh? I suppose you were forced into buying the DSE Manual?? BTW, if you dont plan on using the 'Snake oil', you could send it my way if you dont mind...
DSE: Great info for me!! Ive saved THOUSANDS $ in the 2 years Ive been making my own 'cold blend'! Im lovin it!!
I do have to admit, I really really enjoy the great humor I get from these threads...

EXTREMELY COMICAL!! Sorry, I had to say it. Sounds like the oil U mixed was either hydronated and/or loaded with water... Your blend shouldve been a dark 'caramel' color when finished. When I looked in my fuel tank when I did the vent mod after 40,000+ miles of 'DSE mixing'. the inside of the fuel tank was IMMACULATE!! Seriously, it was SPOTLESS
Im tellin U right now, DSE cold blending ABSOLUTELY works!!

DSE yes it works if you don't rush the process.
If you ask 50 people what they think of DSE you will get bad and good results. The ones with good oil and let it settle and filter the right way they have good positive results. The ones with the bad oil and dont let it settle and rush things have horror stories.
If a doctor tells you you are sick and will die I bet you will go to another doctor before accepting that. There are just to many things that can go wrong if you dont take time and prepare for what you want.
The first few mixes I did was experimental and a learning process.
Now I am just refining my setup but have had good results with DSE.
The manual is a great starting point and you can improve many things as you learn from your mistakes.

Absolutely Jim, I had some 'growing pains' when I started the DSE method 2 years ago. I still basically stick with the same method, but use 10% more Diesel for the thinning than what the Manual suggests. I also dont use their additive anymore for almost a year now, as I find the 'white' bottle of Power Service's anti gelling & water displacement additive works equally well!
For me, concerning 'sitting' the oil, I guess so, to some degree, as I recieve my used VO in the cubies they come in & transfer them into a 55 gallon drum for storage. I then just draw out 5 gallons at a time from this drum & mix whatever amount Im going to make in my plastic 32 gallon trash can! Also, I can personally attest it takes me 25 to 30 minutes from drum to my fuel tank, manufacturing a cold blend VO mix!! This seriously pisses off many a 'bio diesel maker' as many cant fathom the reality it does NOT take 5 to 7 days to make alternative fuel!
IMO, the DSE Manual is ABSOLUTELY worth the $39.99 I paid for it, cause it opened the "information door" to Cold VO blending for me.
Like I said in the beginning, I had growing pains, BUT I CHOSE TO STICK WITH THE METHOD & made subtle refinements & after THOUSANDS of cold blend mixes in the 2 years Ive been using the DSE method, I could honestly make this fuel BLINDFOLDED!!
Yes, I say thousands, cause I drive roughly 600 to 1000 miles A WEEK as I am a mobile marine mechanic in South Fla....
I have never blown a high pressure pump, injector or an engine for that matter in either my 04 F350 6.0l or my current 06 F350 6.0l. I ASSURE EVERYONE, ID BE THE FIRST TO POST A HPP,INJ. OR ENGINE FAILURE IF IT WAS DUE TO DSE BLENDING!!

Lenny, if your work ever takes you up to Vero Beach, shoot me an e-mail. We'll have a beer and trade notes on blending.
I, too, got started with DSE. I have made a lot of refinements, but two years later all is still good.
Yea, why not?, though 90% of my customers are south of me, in Ft. Lauderdale area.
I didnt realize you did the DSE blending..or is that a variation of?
Sometimes I get annoyed along with humor, when people spout out opinions negating something they never actually personally experienced for themselves. Also, there is a bit of speculation & suspicion floating about in these forums!
