I have a friend that works at our local co-op. She told me that they have a diesel fuel there called DieselX...also they're fuel supplier said that you dont need to run any additives with this fuel.
Has anybody heard of this, does it go by a different name?
Thanks

You don't need to run any additives with biodiesel either. DieselX kind of sounds like Ethos Fuel Reformulator or D1280X, but both of those can be added to either gas or diesel fuel to improve economy and reduce emissions.

I dont run bio-diesel...the closest bio-diesel fill station to me is over an hour away! I just wasn't sure what this was. Is a fuel or an additive? Can it be ran by itself or mixed?

I remember that D1280X and the other Fuel Reformulator was just added to the fuel and the ester molecules then spread out through the fuel.
I know this is going to catch some hell here, but I've been putting 1 ounce of acetone for every 10 gallons of biodiesel and have been religiously logging my mileage and show an improvement of 1.5mpg.
I've been doing buttloads of research into acetone, I have one article from 1974 Hot Rod stating the use of acetone as a mileage improver to break the surface tension of the gasoline to promote better fuel atomization.
At the low concentrations of acetone, it's not going to hurt any fuel system components. Gasoline and diesel fuel are already really aggressive solvents anyway.

Hey spence how are you mixing it? Just put it in a full tank and let it slosh around to mix as you drive?

Well. I meter out the biodiesel in 5 gallon cans. I put 1/2 ounce of acetone in each can, then add the biodiesel for proper mixing.
When at the pump, I use a syringe to shoot the acetone down the fuel filler then put in the fuel from the pump.

Keep meticulous records. Many people will not believe you that it works.
This is one myth that Mythbusters totally blew it on.

I am presently on my second tank of dino, doing a three tank MPG test, it will be followed by three tanks of bio, then maybe three tanks of bio with the acetone, to see what the difference is.
As far as I can remember, DieselX is a formulation that has a higher Cetane rating. When it is used in farm equipment, you can smell the parrafin when you are working the machine harder. The main problem is that with the extra parrafin the cloud and gel point moves up the temperature scale. This means that you will gel up quicher in the winter. I used to have a 99 F-250HD with 2 tanks and when we would go to help some friends with harvest, the front tank would get filled with DieselX from the farm. I am not sure if it is high or low sulphur. I do not think it has the road tax on it and that is why we would run 1 tank on that and switch as necessary.
