Hydrogen generators (aka. "HHO", aka "oxyhydrogen", aka. "Brown's Gas", aka. "MagneGas", aka. "bubble machines") are not effective on Diesel engines.
The only time hydrogen gas* might be useful is if a cheap source of bottled hydrogen were available. You could then run 80% hydrogen/20% Diesel fuel, similar to the gaseous-fuel setups on natural-gas and LP-gas Diesel engine conversions.
But it's unlikely hydrogen will be cheaper than Diesel fuel any time soon.
