filter info, pt#'s, prices, where to get etc.

Filters, everybody asks about these so that’s the reason for this post.

These are the filters that I use:

Note* Before I run my oil through these filters, I shirt filter them to get a look at the oil and get the biggest sludge out before I clog my filters and to look for water contamination.

Perma Cool filter 2 micron Fuel/water separator filter with housing
PT# PRM-88864 Cost $42.88 From Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts | 800-230-3030
Perma-Cool 88864 - Perma-Cool Fuel Filter and Water Separator Kits - summitracing.com

Perma Cool replacement filter for PRM-88864
PT# PRM-81000 Cost $14.95 From Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts | 800-230-3030
Perma-Cool 81000 - Perma-Cool Replacement Fuel Filter Elements - summitracing.com

Dual filter relocation kit, uses PH8A type filters. I use 2 wix filters to prefilter before the 2 micron filter. These are rated at 10 micron.

Trans-Dapt Performance remote filter kit
Pt# TRD-1222 Cost $59.95 From Summit Racing - High Performance Car and Truck Parts | 800-230-3030
Trans-Dapt Performance Products 1222 - Trans-Dapt Performance Remote Oil Filter Relocation Kits - summitracing.com

Filter info that I use on the TRD-1222 kit: These filters are rated at 10 micron
WIX Pt #33393 Napa Pt# 3393 Cost $6.35 from FleetFilter.com
Part Detail

During the Mixing stage where the #2 and oil is mixed I run through a C-50 Firomatic filter with an RC-30 element.

Note* I had to call Highfield at 1-203-384-2281 for prices and they give a list and a multiplier to get the actual prices, the list price is much higher then the actual cost. I got a C-50 filter and about 8 RC-30 elements from work that we were trashing, that’s why I have and am using them. I think these are rated for 10 microns. Not sure though that’s why I am just using these during the mixing process just in case something big gets in my fuel somehow.

C-50 filter at Highfield Manufacturing Corporation
Pt# 9140-0050 Cost $33.07
Fireomatic Oil Valve, Filter And Thermal Switch Product Group

RC-30 replacement Cartridge at Highfield Manufacturing Corporation
Pt# 9140-0030 Cost $2.30
Fireomatic Oil Valve, Filter And Thermal Switch Product Group

Again these are what I use. Those of you that use other filters please post up prices, pt#’s and any other info on the filters you use so we can simply refer all filter questions here.

Thanks
Joe

When I installed my aux fuel tank, I used the Perma-cool fuel filter housing and filter as sold by Summit Racing. Nothing wrong with, it works good.

When I did the pre-pump filter, I bought the housing and filters from Fleetfilter for a much lower price for the exact same housing (i.e. $20 vs. $35).

I also did a survey of most spin-on fuel filters using the Fleetfilter.com site and Wix/Napa filters and put most of the relevant data into an Excel spreadsheet.

Since I can't post the spreadsheet directly here, I'll post my Pre-Pump Filter paper, a portion of the spreadsheet is on page 4; the example in the paper only has those fuel filters with 1"-14 threads.

If anyone would like a copy of the original spreadsheet with all the fuel filter data I collected, please PM my your e-mail address.

Pre-Pump Fuel install paper

Thanks,

Al
