Just finished my second tank and so far, driving was pretty good, no mileage change and the only other thing that I notice is slightly visible smoke (with headlight from behind) on hill climbing. Normally on the same hill, I do not see any smoke. This is on a mixture of 16 liter Canola oil and 100 liter Diesel.
Max here is a link that will help you. It has all the energy values of different oils including diesel Click ME Soybean oil does have about 8% less energy than #2 diesel by volume by their numbers.
If math is your big motivation be sure that you factor sales tax into the mix. 3.29 plus our .0925% tennessee sales tax = $3.59 a gallon. Fuel at the pump is the all out after tax price and its cheaper than that right now.
The smell when you are burning WVO is of course priceless.

Biodiesel is now available in Vancouver (Byrn Rd & Marine Dr.), Cascadia sells them (thru Autogas) at 93 cents for B40, mix that with 50% dino makes B20 for winter. Problem is my normal winter mileage is about 15 mpg and with B20, it drop down to 12 mpg. Lost some power too. Canola oil is now $18 per 16 liter, no sales tax.
Found out too that West Coast Reduction was the company taking all the WVO from restaurants. Mafia connections?

Remember, we aren't eating this stuff, we're turning it into diesel fuel. Your truck only cares about viscosity, acidity, and BTUs. Nothing else. -unknown?

Filled up the other day with Cascadia B20 in Vancouver. I'm not sure if it's a placebo effect or what but I swear my engine is runner quieter and smoother. I didn't notice any power loss.
Did a couple 100 k's over the past couple days, just topped up the tank with some more B20 for the long ride home. This will be a good test if the MPG drops. 100% pure city driving over the past couple days was 17MPG. I believe the price was around $101.9
I did fill up my TDI w/ Cascadia B20 in Penticton (FYI at the Chevron plant) last month and I don't feel the MPG suffered.

FYI: Vancouver to Kamloops (300km) at +/- 105kph = 17MPG

Definitely no placebo EFX. We actually use a sound pressure meter to test, although no scientifically precise but confirmed much quieter run, even lower db with 5% virgin canola oil.
running 100% biodiesel definently makes your truck quieter, the other week, i had to fill up with diesel 100%, i almost pulled over because my trucks engine sounded like it was about ready to blow with all the knocking. but nothing was wrong I was used to the quiet purr running biodiesel!!
