hi all, first post- on my 1993 f-350 non-turbo idi my fuel filter light keeps comming on, i have changed the thing 2 times in the last month but it keeps comming on at random times, i changed it again tonight, and the light didn't come on for a good half hour then would flicker on for a few seconds and go off again. im stumped. (this truck is converted to run on veggie oil, but this problem only happens when i am running in the stock diesel mode, in the conversion i did switch the fuel route so the diesel goes from the tank to the fuel filter, then to the lift pump, instead of stock which is from the tank to the lift pump then to the filter, could this have anything to do with it? the conversion is a two tank kit from plantdrive.com)
thanks
zack

Remember, we aren't eating this stuff, we're turning it into diesel fuel. Your truck only cares about viscosity, acidity, and BTUs. Nothing else. -unknown?

NC State law defines biodiesel as ''any fuel or mixture of fuels derived in whole or in part from agricultural products or animal fats or wastes from these products or fats.''
If memory serves right, (this isn't the water in fuel light, correct?) the light comes on when the pressure in the filter drops below a certain level. Since you are 'sucking' through it, instead of pushing through it, the pressure is low and trips the light.
Like I said, if memory serves me right!

it is the fuel filter light, not water in fuel, and i thought it might me something like that, it only comes on when i give it more throttle, like when i am going up a hill, once in a while the engine surges and gets real noisy for a minute, then pops back to normal and the light comes on. really want to fix it, would adding a second, auxilliary small electric fuel pump fix it possibly, appreciate any advice.

Are you returning veggi to your diesel tank on purge? If so it sounds like you are getting veggi in your filter or you have partial pluged your pick up screen. The surging is from air as is the noise mostlikley the noise is from the timing advancing when the air goes thru the IP it uses fuel presure to retard the timing in the pump.I have the same thing happen because I return to diesl tank on purge it was not a problem when the temps were warmer .I am going to add another valve to purge to veggi tank though. If you still have your old filters cut them open and see what is in them.
