Fuel Heater for VVO

Does anyone know of a Fuel heating system for a 01, 05 & 06. I plan on running B50 all summer but next winter that may be a bit much. It don't get real cold down in South GA.. Next year I would like to run SVO-VVO all year!!

Re: Fuel Heater for VVO

Mobydick,
You might also post in the Biodiesel forum.A lot of knowledgable guys hang out there. What kinda low temps do you see there? Do you guys get winter blend diesel down there? If so you may be able to run B50 OK, or maybe add a anti-gel like Howes. Stanadyne or Power Service would also help.I've been running B20-B30 all winter up here, but we don't see cold temps either. Low 20's for a few nights.

Re: Fuel Heater for VVO

We will see 25 as a low once a year, 30 maybe 10 times and 35 about 20 times!! I think I could run 50% VVO all summer with no problems!! I thought posting in the Bio-Diesel forums but people over there run WVO Bio. that has been run through a "reactor" with Methanol. I have to assume that lowers the viscosity so it has the same flow characteristics as Diesel!!

Re: Fuel Heater for VVO

You might try going thru a few of the post in this forum. IIRC a guy mentioned pulling hot coolant out of a plug at the back of the drivers side head. I believe it was a 1/2" plug. He was going to use that for his heater. I don't have a clue about your 6.0's.

Re: Fuel Heater for VVO

Plant drive has kits for the 6.0 and 7.3. Pretty straight forward to install. You can do the install on a long weekend, say 3 day weekend.

I've been running my 6.0 on one for over 14,000 miles so far. I love the fuel savings and ease of use. They have differant level of heat needs. I recommend the hotfox for sure.

Re: Fuel Heater for VVO

The nicest kits I've seen anywhere are at frybrid.com, they also have an awesome forum. If you get on the forum find "Dana" he is the king of all things vegoil.
