Fuel transfer pump for WMO

I have a Tuthill SD1200 transfer pump (the yellow one) and I was wanting to use it to pick up WMO. But I wasn't sure if it could handle the viscosity, then again I just moved to Georgia and it's 90 deg. I don't want to risk a $250 pump before I got some feedback. Thanks for any info.

I have the next model up from yours (the red one) and tried today to pump WMO and it would not handle the viscosity. I have a hand pump model but I'm looking for something 12V that will handle WMO.

After looking at what is available for collecting WMO, I am going to build a super sucker.
Search "super sucker" for some very good discussions here.

I have the "yellow" 12v 13 GPM transfer pump too. I have been using it to pump WMO through a 10u filter. The WMO was room temp or better, and thinned 10% wityh diesel fuel. The pump sounded a little slow, but it pumped ok.

diaphragm pumps are going to be the best for pumping thick liquids.

I was looking to build a super sucker, but I'm having a hard time finding a tank at a resonable price. I'm looking for quickest way to bring relief to my fuel pump blue, so I can afford what's needed for the sucker.

I made one out of a 100# propane tank that I was not using. They were about 80 bucks new but now the way metal is going up who knows.

It will suck up 20 gal in less than 2 min using a 1 inch wand and hose, there's a bottleneck at the tank fitting cause it's 3/4 but it still sucks pretty fast.

If you want a pic of it let me know.

I am going to use a 2" 7hp gas powered trash water pump to collect my oil. I will be emptying a 275gal tote. The pump is rated at 158gpm pumping water and I figure I'll be able to empty a 275 gal tote in 3-5 minutes depending on temp. So far I am into the pump setup for about $300 including suction and discharge hoses. It'll also make the transfer to my 275gal totes at home a pretty quick process.

After 2 months of looking I found a suitable tank for a sucker, for free noless. It's a 150ish gal propane tank 46" tall (less the base and top), and 32" diameter. Sure beats $350+ bills everyone else was wanting.
Now it's time for a vacuum pump. Any sugestions? I was thinking of using one of Murphy's, but i could salvage one and see just how cheap I can build it. Other questions I had were; do I/should I weld in some bungs (How many) for inlet/drain, vacuum/pressure gauge, maybe an aux. to hook up an air compressor? How much vacuum draw could/should I put on it? I would like to see this thing have the potential to suck a cat through it my own little WMD!

P.S. If you have pics I would love to see them.

This is the 100# propane sucker tank with access valves, one for vacuum and one for pressure.
The hose and valves are 1 inch but the bottleneck for this tank is the inlet which is 3/4. It still sucks 20+ gals in just a couple minutes.

Both those yellow and red pumps can't handle oil (WMO & WVO) but THIS can. It's what I use around my shed as my oil pump. A 12V model is also available HERE. I've seen a super sucker in action and I'm totally impressed but all my oil comes in cubies so I don't need one.
