The other day I wanted to see what this brown looking stuff was at the bottom of my Racor. I somewhat looked liked algea crap living in my gas(diesel) tank. I removed the fuel/water sep. and beated the brown stuff out of it and washed it dishwater. I have been throwing B20 and B99 and Exxon pump diesel at it.Will it live off bio or will the bio loosen it up? I really dont want to drop the tanks if possible. Bacteria will grow in diesel and biodiesel. Longterm storage of biodiesel requires the use of a biocide to kill of this bacteria.
Are you making the biodiesel yourself or from a commercial supplier? How long have you been running biodiesel? It may be the gunk left over from years of diesel fuel use that is gumming up your filter.
Remember that biodiesel will remove the years of diesel residue from your tanks.

I get my biodiesel from DFWbiodesel and BioWillie. Im working on my 6 tank of biodisesel or so. The truck had been parked for several years before I got hold of it. I removed my cruise control cans and controls so I can pull the filter eaiser. One more question: If I had like that Standye fuel treatment to my B99, I can raise the gel point of it? A week or so ago, it got really cold for serveral days, the B99 was in a lard state for several days after it got warm. At least it wasnt in my fuel system. I like the it smells, I bust up laughing every time I get a good wiff.

Stanadyne has an Arctic formulation for biodiesel that works to reduce cloud point.
After 6 tanks of biodiesel, there will still be alot of gunk to be removed, remember too that your truck was sitting for a long time too.
If you cannot get Stanadyne for the gelling issues, mix it 50/50 with regular diesel and then put in a regular antigel for diesel fuel.

Store the Bio in a cool dark place. You might want to add a little "KILLEM" to it to be on the safe side. The funk in your tank is probally the Bio cleaning the crap out of the tank seeing how it's an 85.
