I was pointed in the direction of Greasecar.com for their vegetable oil conversion kit for the Powerstroke (where you can run your Ex off of McDonalds old fry oil). Two questions:
1. Has anyone had any real world experience with this? I can see the grin on the F*rd warranty accountants face already...
2. Does anyone know of an aftermarket fuel tank that will bolt underneath the Ex in place of the bed mounted tank greasecar offers?
Let me do you a solid. You are right there in Seattle. Head over to Frybrid and have them do it right. If you have any questions visit http://www.frybrid.com They've got some growing pains they are going through right now, but since you are local you can work through them. Bar none best WVO products out there. The tank is an issue on the Excursions. It would probably have to be fabricated. Frybrid can fabricate one...and if you'd be so kind as to take your truck over there so they can measure I won't have to leave mine in Seattle as long.
I'd advise against Greasecar, Greasel, Vegpoweredsystems, and a host of others. You aren't talking about a disposable $2500 old beater Mercedes here. You'll want to do it right, especially when winter time comes. The only company I'd consider besides Frybrid is Plantdrive, and then only after they've made the product changes they've promised me.
To their credit Greasel has a tank and system for the Excursion. Problem is their system is full of Greasel components.
FWIW, being able to operate an Excursion on WVO is the only reason I can legitimize the purchase. I drive about 3K miles per month on company business. I'm wholly in favor of getting 45.5 cents per mile with essentially no fuel cost.
You might want to check into Vegistroke.com as well. He is in the Seattle area. He specializes in the 7.3L Powerstrokes. I have one of his systems and I am pleased with it.

Tell you what, since you are in Seattle, why dont you send me a private message, and I'll show you how to make biodiesel for much cheaper than spending all that cash for a conversion.

Isakmp- Yep, sure did blow the motor while running my own kit. , no doubt that was a costly endeaver. However, as a few have mentioned, it can not be directly connected to my vegoil kit. There are those who have blown their motor while running on # 2 as well, having never used WVO. I was just a not so lucky recipient of a defective part, and power mods. As I mentioned, I do not baby my truck, I am brass juevos to the wall all the time. However, I do the reuqisite maintainance as well. I have done blackstone oil samples since I first started, and even my last one they could not see this coming. And Swamp even noted that my engine was in very good health. The excessive carbon buildup on the injectors was no doubt from my earlier attempts at running 100% WVO. If you want I would be happy to give you the phone numbers of any of the whopping 10 customers I have had so far. Everyone seems happy to spend 2500 to do it themselves then spend 2,000 from me. Oh well, no biggie. I am happy that I had a chnace to look inside my motor anyway. Now I can rebuild it for some serious power!!
