Griffin Industries

Not sure if any of you know that they actually not only collect spent waste cooking oil but they actually produce bio-diesel? Found it on their website. I know they are national so I figured most of you have allready heard about them.

By the way...why do gas stations only carry B-20 and not B-50 or B-99 ??

Re: Griffin Industries

I kinda figured the collecters had a hand in producing bio.Thats why I was wandering how bent they get when they find out we have taken away some of their business, when picking up at restruant.

Re: Griffin Industries

Probably paying them at most $.10 a gallon. I've heard in my area $.07/gallon. YMMV.

Re: Griffin Industries

I think they do it by the pound. They really have no way of measuring how many gallons they are taking. Here they back the truck up to the dumpster hook it up to a hoist and it lifts the dumpster into the back of the truck in which it tips it and then puts it back on the ground....mixing it with everyone elses for the day. From what I heard from my landlord who owns a local place he says they pay pennies each time they come out.

Re: Griffin Industries

The going rate at present is .06 to .10 per pound. There are almost 7 pounds or .42 to .70 per gallon of oil taken. The Renderers seem to pay in order to take the contract from a competitor knowing that 90% of restaurants fail their equipment is there for the next owner to use without being paid. At least that is what I believe. It really pays to befriend the restaurant owner and have lunch from time to time leave good tips and also give gifts to the cooking staff.
