I have a question for those of you using WVO. I added a gallon of new Veggie oil to a full tank of diesel(36 gal) just to see what it would do, and I noticed that my EGTs were about 100-200* higher than normal. Did I do something wrong? I have read on here that I should change my fuel filter after running WVO because it cleans out your fuel system, etc, etc.
SVO/WVO has a higher calorific count, and more calories = more heat.
At what level did you notice being warmer? at cruise? under load? 500-600 is normal for me, unless im fighting a headwind, then 700-800 is not out of line.
Is there anything you dont know Forgotten? My EGTs are usually around 600-650 cruising at 70 mph. Now they are around 700-750 cruising at the same speed. Just wondering why they were high.
did the outside temps go up by any chance I haven't noticed a difference in my egts on either of my trucks and I'm running between 4-8 gallons of veggie oil
I'll take a stab, how is your air filter? WVO is a little less potent than #2 and you'd have your foot a little further in it. If your air filter was marginaly full, the motor could be running a little hotter due to reduced air flow Just an idea. I've run close to 100Gal of straight WVO and haven't noticed any increase in temps.
