Home Baked Polymerization test.

Just got done doing some interesting testing looking for polymerization, and ways to prevent it. Now this is just a prelimenary test, and I need to back it up with a duplicate test, but the results were interesting to say the least. I can't wait to follow up on this with some more testing. Let me know what you think....

Re: Home Baked Polymerization test.

Very cool. Thanks for your effort. I'm also curious about reaction with other metals.

I've seen the most severe polymerization in a steel tank w/copper heat exchanger, and also saw it in an aluminum tank w/copper HE.

It is interesting you didn't get the reaction until higher temps...
Those temps are much higher than most would see in a conversion system or even pre-filtering.

Keep up the good work!!

VERY NICE!

Keep up the good work!!!

It would be interesting to see that test done with BioDiesel.

Again, I applaud your work! Its folks like you doing these experiments that bring knowledge to these forums!

Re: Home Baked Polymerization test.

Yep, this test was only a starting point. But I was certainly encouraged to say the least. In lieu of these findings there are about a thousand different combinations I want to try to see if we can fully understand this. I will certainly be trying Biodiesel, and and some different metals along the way. Right now I have started test 2 that is using progressively less and less diesel down to 40:1, and then a 10:1 with DieselKleen, only diesel, and only WVO.

Re: Home Baked Polymerization test.

Great info. I will for sure be adding #2 to my mixture. The pictures speak for themselves.

Re: Home Baked Polymerization test.

As a previous reply said, use biodiesel to see how it affects the WVO also, that could be very interesting. In the top three you could try straight biodiesel, strait WVO, 10:1 WVO:BD. Then duplicate those tests inthe bottom three cups. It might be best to try three variations at a time, with two of each for reapeatability in identical conditions.

As as a side note Jason, if y'all are using #2 in the primary tank with a veggistroke-type configuration, the purge would input #2 into the veggy tank as a matter of course. It would be a function of tank size and purge time to target desired #2 and WVO ratio. If your preliminary 10:1 results with No. 2 are any indication, I feel alot better about a few of the steel fittings I have in my system!!

Thanks for the hard work.
