How does a newbe get started?

I would like to try this...not sure I can find the veggie oil...but maybe I can find enough to make some small batches. Enough to run in my tractor.

Where do I get started? Is there a small processor I can get? Where do I find Methanol?

Thanks

Re: How does a newbe get started?

Methanol is available anywhere, except your area. Which is quite a stretch in this case, since no one but you knows where you are. Get the idea?? Put the location in your profile, and / or call your local petroleum jobber.

To start really really small, just to gain confidence in the process, you can use "Heet" gas line antifreeze in the yellow bottle (methanol), Red Devil (lye), and maybe find someone with some leftover turkey deep-fryer oil. Obviously you'll want to find bigger, more cost-effective quantities to do bigger batches, but it's a way anyone can get started and try out the process with stuff available at local stores.
