I have been running it for about 7500 miles. I have had no problems but like they said filter it to 2 microns.

They say atf burns hotter than wmo but I never noticed a difference, then agin I usualy run a wmo, hydrolic fluid, atf ****tail. My truck runs the best on #2/wmo at 50/50 with a little 2 stroke motor oil.

I'm up to 1800 miles on a 50/50 blend. I only commute 30 miles a day.

Filtered WMO

So I guess I am supposed to filter it to 2 Microns, that's what everyone keeps saying. And I will have no other issues on a stock or even a modified engine running this up to 100%. I want to save money, I don't get paid enough to drive....

Methinks it's extreme folly to think that a new-ish DI brainiac diesel will run 100% WMO without any issues. I would proceed with caution were I you. The tolerances in these newer engines are much tighter than in old IDI's. I'd be very concerned about it.

It's like comparing an ak to an ar.

I run high concentrations of waste oil, but seeing as one of you injectors probably costs much more than what I paid for my truck. Well...YMMW.

Good luck, and proceed slowly, you could be in for a few surprises.

So far I have about 250 miles on 50-66% WMO in my 6.9 IDI, seems to run better than on #2 diesel. I do have the heavy gagging smoke at startup/idle.

I had one scary moment where I was accelerating from a stop and all of a sudden the engine seemed to be struggling, and my EGT was up about 200 degrees from the maximum I usually see, but after easing off throttle for 10-15 seconds the EGT dropped back to normal and the usual level of power seemed to return. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Maybe the blend is settling in the fuel tank?

Where are you guys finding 2 micron water filters? At Menards and TSC where I have purchased filters, they lowest they have is a 5 micron.

There's an ebay seller that sells 50-1 micron blown poly filters for a buck a piece - you need to buy in quantities of 25 though.

completefiltrationservices I believe the handle is...

I use the GE whole house water filters that I purchased at Home Depot. GE has a carbon 1-2 micron nominal rated carbon filter that I use in the second housing.

Check out this thread for some good info. On the first page I have some pics of my filter set up and a link to summit racing for a 2 micron fuel filter/water separator. Working great so far. Here is the link.
WMO Info

Hope this helps out. I've got a little over 6k miles on a 75% WMO blend with no problems. BTW Recon26, read my last post in the above thread to answer a few other question you might have. Actually read the entire post. Some really good info there.

LunaTech, I actually subscribed to that one after I had read this one. I am looking at all this very seriously because I like Trucks, and even if I was forced to buy a car, it would be a diesel if at all possible. I want all the info that anyone has about cheap supplies of the WMO/ATF/etc. and all the tricks out there so I can figure out what works on my set up. Now I just need to hook up with Jody for some tunes.....

Guys, I have a little bad news. I have been using the 5-micron rope-wound filters for my final filtering stage, and I went on a trip a few weeks ago that needed more than my tank's fuel supply, so I filled a couple 5 gallon fuel cans with my 66% mix as well. No worries, the trip was fine and the truck ran completely normal. The only thing that bugs me is that I noticed about a week after I got back, when I was going to refill the fuel cans for another long trip, that there was some black sediment in the bottom of the fuel cans. I'm not sure if the rope-wound filters are letting some particles through, or if the sediment I was seeing was all less than 5 micron, but the filter isn't catching everything.

I think we all need to get those 2 micron filters if we don't already have them.

Yea, I agree. I start my filter setup at 5 micron and end at 2 micron. Check the link in my earlier post (about 3 up) for the link to the WMO info thread. The setup I have is working great for me so far. No problems and over 8000 miles (and counting) on a 75% WMO 25% diesel blend.

its all i use,,bout 50/50 sometimes 75% went straight 100 % one toime to pick up some cows cuz I didn't have any fuel and all I had was oil that i'd filtered and I didn't want to run out,
Don't know how many miles i've accumulated but its some. I use sock filters from veggie dot com and they are to one micron, Jus wanna say it runs just dandy on anything I put in it and I only have one tank so I have to start on it, it is a lil slower startin but starts even in winter at 50/50 but with a lil heat from the block heater, even use it in my 856 50/50, that ole varmint likes it better than my ole idi, but like i said on my other post, these old idi's are a different breed from these newer ones and can take it where these new ones with their fancy injectors can't. so beware
oh even ran aromatic lamp oil,
she sure smelled good idlin

I must've been living under a rock for the last few months I guess... What's "WMO" and people are actually mixing used Trans Fluid in with their Diesel now...?
