i want to give it a shot

ok so i have decided that i would like to try and give this bio diesel a shot. i have buddy that works at a restraunt and says they dump about 15 gallons of oil a night so i figure this would be a good start on collecting. now here is where i need some help. i need full on instructions on how to build and proccess the oil. pictures would be helpful in the project. i would like to make my own kit to help cut the cost. so guys any info would be awsome and any tips would be great. thanks

I started the same way as you and have been reading up for the past month on here and links from here...also several google searches.
This is probably the best starting point.
Biofuels: Journey to Forever - how to make your own clean-burning biofuel, biodiesel from cooking oil, fuel alcohol, renewable energy, glycerine, soap making

I know exactly how you feel. I'm just now getting around to getting pieces and parts for making my processor.

Sorry Newbie. That is easily the worst information that is available on the internet. Their Foolproof method is more like the Fools method because nobody can make it work. Check out Welcome - Collaborative Biodiesel Tutorial Website and read, then come back with specific questions, if you have any.

For once I agree with Stormin' (when'd you change the name?) but, no offense, your link skills sorta leave something to be desired. This is *probably* where he meant to send you, the best bio forum on the planet:

Wow I didn't say it was the end all be all...I said it was a starting point!! I liked the site for general info about biodiesel...should have specified...I actually really don't like there "method"...the methods I've been seeing on othersites seem a lot better, easier and less troublesome.
thanks for both of the new links though.
This is one I've been reading on based in Australia

If your in the Phx. area, I think your best bet would be to bring your oil over to me and I'll process it for you and we can both be happy.

Chip should be OK.

Collect as much oil as you can. The best prefilter and dewatering technique is TIME. Bring it home, let it settle and pump 'the good stuff' off the top when yer ready to start using it.

or drain the old junk out of the bottom, if you have a container that allows it.
