% of lye

I brought 2 different bottles of hardware store drain cleaner but it doesnt it say what the % of Naoh it is.

I would have just bought Red Devil lye, but i live in florida where methanol is $ 3.60/gallon and no one has red devil anything.
im about to find out how good chick-fil-a's oil is...

From what I have gathered RedDevil brand lye has been reduced to about 50% lye to deter Meth Lab makers. If you have a local candle and soap shop ask them what kind they use. They can probably steer you in the right direction. Roebic is currecntly still 100% lye but you never know when that is going to change.

Roebic is 100% NaOH.

I highly recommend that you think about using KOH instead. It will not form hard soap if you screw up a batch and can of course be obtained in 50 pound sacks for about 50 dollars.

What I do is purchase a 50 pound sack and then divide the contents among 2 sealable paint buckets like what you get at a hardware store.
