Wrong, This was one of many that has a tendency to leak and catch on fire. No element was inside processor.

the Appleseed design is simpler, safer and cheaper. I also laugh at your contention that non DIYers are buying this system to DYI Biodiesel

I agree that the appleseed is better.

No one saying that the plastic cones are the preferred method. Just not LOADS of the FM"s burning up. Unsupported statements like that could get you sued. Factual info, that's all.

MY buddy wanted to buy a FM. WHY??? Because he didn't think he has the knowledge to build one himself. IT was just easier to buy a complete system.

I introduced him to my other friend who is big into processing. He helped him build a system.

Too extensive to list.

Days in shop so far 71 and counting as they still have it.

34K miles.

After spending a month in the shop and having it back only 2 weeks, it's back in the shop. Ford Customer service refused to send me a DSB Package. Told me the info is in the back of manual. Well truck is in shop and I don't have the info can you give it to me? No, it's in the manual.

I personally know of four that have melted down. Another problem is the un reinforced plastic tubing that they use that will rupture spewing hot oil all over the place.
Hell, for 3K, I will build you a nice $500 appleseed system. Any takers?

Re: "Make your own Biodiesel" on 'Trucks!'

My brother, brother-N-law and I are going to start making this stuff,
We have 20 steel 55 gal drums, 6 350gal tanks now (all free) to work with, and my 90' by 50' shead to work in.
We will be feeding 5 diesels, so it may save us some $$. We are all burning B-11 now.
We are trying to check out what is the best way to go about it, before we buy some junk stuff. Most of our parts will be easy to get or buy for Home Depot.

Have you secured a supply of WVO? That is the hardest part.

Detroit BioD - Go to the biodiesel.infopop.cc site
and seek out JoeM. He lives in Sterling Hieghts.
I'd help you but I'm closer to Jackson.

Re: "Make your own Biodiesel" on 'Trucks!'

kgglass, be careful of how much tankage you have installed. You will fall under the newly revised Federal Clean Water Act regulation regarding spill plans and other assorted regulations if you exceed 1300 gallons(might be 1500) for your entire installation. 50 gallon or larger drums also count for adding up the total. Secondary containment, overfill protection, spill plans and lots of other things become a player at that time.

I am jelous of your building, wish I had it.
