Met Craig Reece yesterday...

I wandered down to Berkley and met the man(AKA Plant Drive), picked up a couple things. I had the chance to see his Land Rover, it looks better in person than in pictures, and it looks good in pictures! He also showed me a few things in his shop, I have high standards for doing things right, and I'd say he is one of the few people who could exceed them.

Re: Met Craig Reece yesterday...

He's a great person, too!

that Land Rover conversion is a dieselengine-into-a-gas-body conversion plus an SVO conversion on top of that, and it's really a massive project. THey stretched the frame, added all sorts of major modifications in the process, and spent several years doing it. The SVO part is pretty burly also- he built this toy so as to go out camping in the desert many miles from a tow truck, and it's a good standard to build to.

I first met him because he was posting about that mod way back in 2001 or so, when it was first starting to undergo the mechanical surgery. IT was finally done about three years later, and looks great.

His website is www.plantdrive.com

Re: Met Craig Reece yesterday...

several years? I'm about to embark on a similar project with a 1979 Jeep Cherokee, I want it done by winter! Ah well, he told me a bit about the engine he has, sounds stout, and the truck looked well outfitted. I counted 4 dieseld that he had on site, but didn't ask if he has more.

Re: Met Craig Reece yesterday...

Anybody have a link to Craig Reece's project? I cannot find it from his web site nor with a Google search. I would like to see a project write up and/or some pictures if anyone knows where they are.

Thanks -- Dave / Believer45
