Methane?

Can methane gas be captured and used to run a diesel conversion? My wife passes lots of gas and I was thinking of capturing it..

Re: Methane?

I suppose you could plumb the air intake to draw it's air in from the seat.

On a serious note, just the other day I read short book on natural gas (AKA methane) conversions. Conversions can and have been done with diesels running as much as 70% natural gas - 30% diesel. One of the biggest difficulties is that the gas must be highly compressed in order to carry a practical amount for a vehicle to run on. (3500psi, so propane stuff won't work) You need a tank which is rated to hold that amount of PSI, plus special high pressure steel lines to take it to the engine. The other difficulty is you need to compress it to that high PSI (it comes in the lines to the house at a much lower pressure), unless you happen to have a natural gas vehicle filling station nearby, which most people don't.
