mixing diesel with wvo BEFORE final filtering??

I'm new to all this, absorbing what info I can before I start.
Any comments, advise, or experience etc. about cutting the WVO with diesel to thin it, to lessen the viscosity BEfORE filtering down to the final microns??
Just curious, thanks.

Re: mixing diesel with wvo BEFORE final filtering??

If I were going to cold blend, I probably would mix it first, then settle before filtering. Three reasons;
-1 If there is any wax or sediment from a reaction with the WVO and diesel, it will get removed before you get it in the truck.
-2 Any waxy solids that may get disolved by the diesel will do so and pass thru the filter instead of clogging it.
-3 Thinning will allow solids to settle out much faster.

Re: mixing diesel with wvo BEFORE final filtering?? "what filter"

I'm not entirely sure yet... I intend to pre-filter with something like a 200 micron screen before adding diesel, then letting it all settle, then maybe filtering through an air filter type then on down to the 3-5 micron I've been reading about.
I found some 200 micron screens on eBay that fit over an open 55 gallon drum that look promising.
I have access to new and used poly tanks and Shurflo pumps (12 volt or 115 Volt) so pumping and storage are no problem.
I just assume that a thinner mix would flow easier once I got started and that with proper filtration I wouldn't have to woryy about messing up my good (read expensive ) diesel.
