Most effecient machine for removing oil ?

I have tried the little electric pumps from Northern tool (seized 2 up) not powerfull enough and not quick enough. And I have tried a 5.5hp trash pump and have yet to get it to pump veggie only water. What have you guys had best of luck with?

I tried getting the places I get my oil from to put the oil back in the carboy's they get them in and all places said they rather have a larger company come and pick it up that its less of a hassle.

Re: Most effecient machine for removing oil ?

is your oil really slushy or something (rather than liquid)? at that point you might need to exchange barrels, take the solid one home and heat it up- a lot of hassle.

Re: Most effecient machine for removing oil ?

I use an oil pump from a small block V-8 Chevy. It is made for oil, and is positive displacement, which means no priming, Just stick the hose in the oil tank, adn the outlet hose in your barrel. I turn it with a 3/8" electric drill. i can pump 50 gallons in about 10 min. or less.

Here is a thread on another forum with info: V-8 oil pump for moving Veggie oil on InfoPop

Re: Most effecient machine for removing oil ?

I use an old hot water tank...plumbed to accept a 3/4" valve and plastic hose...another to connect the intake side of my compressor. Pull a vacumme to -21, close the valve. When I get to the oil site put in the hose, open the other valve and the tank fills itself (35-40) gallons in about 20 minutes or so. Of course only works on liquid oil but mine are all pretty good..
