New Guy

Howdy All!

I am new to the forum.

I am going to be converting my 2000 F-250 to SVO very soon. I have an 80 gallon heated tank in the bed, a Vormax coolant operated filter/dewater and a Veg-Therm Mega just for good measure. I bought all this to convert a much simpler engine but recently got the "new" truck. There is a lot more going on under this hood than my previous vehicle and the Chilton manual is not too visually helpful in trying to find the proper location to tie into the fuel line.

Any hints? Photos would help. Thanks for reading the post. I would love to talk to someone that has done a sucessful conversion.

Re: New Guy

Read this thread . It is probably the best approach to these engines IMHO. It offers redundancy and very short purge times.

Re: New Guy

Hi there, welcome to the club. Lots of good info here, and helpful guys. The previous thread has a lot good info, however does not reflect all the chnages I made since my original inception. I am working on a website www.vegistroke.com specifically discussing my setup, and how I have it done, when I get done, this will be a great referance as a baseline original if nothing else. There are a few ready made kits out there as well from frybrid, greasel and greasecar, however my design is the only one made specifically for the PSD. Any questions, let me know!! Re: New Guy

Fordnut74,

Thanks for all the obvious hardwork you have put into thinking!!! I will be making my first batch of biodiesel this weekend and building a gravity filter to prepare my WVO. I'm ohly doing a quick filter for the biodiesel input, most all sediment drops out with the glycerin. I tried to follow the thread you posted outlining your filtration system fore the wvo, but the photos did not come up....

I would like to see a photo of your system, especially the white bucket. I'm building a gravity feed system using just two 55 gallon drums, the top one heated. I trickle small stream of wvo through a conical wire screening and then a second cone lined with old sheets as a primary filter. Then I will put it through an actual filter unit to be determined. My source supplies me with 150-200 gallons of oil per month... I've gotta work to keep up!!

Expect some specific questions on the conversion diagrams and system posted on your web site. it looks pretty strait forward though. Is there no selector valve or is it simply whether or not I power the veggie pump (with thermostat or manual) that initiates wvo use?

Take Care
ScottE
