I've been doing research on how the best way to convert my 1997 Powerstroke for SVO. It appears Greasel and Neoteric Powerstroke kits send the SVO through the stock filter. Are people running a system like this having any issues? Thanks in advance.

You can run it thru the stock filter, but your purge times will be VERY LONG as thats a lot of fuel to use up when switching back to #2 diesel.
FordNut74 ended up using 1-way check balls and running a seperate fuel pump and fuel filter and tying them all in at the heads. His purge times are measured in just a minute or two, compared to the 10's of minutes trying to purge the stock bowl,

Actually with the auto purge valve it's about thirty seconds. In my truck there's an automatic timer that keeps the truck running for thirty seconds after you turn off the key.
Actually I have his latest experiment which is a totally automatic system which activates when it comes up to temp and automatically purges on shutdown.
It still needs some work as it only should activate when the truck is turned off, going to have to put a indicator light on it so I know when it is purging. Right now it sometimes activates when I start the truck up or if I engauge it on the fly; need to do a bit more monitoring and tweaking on the electical aspects of the system.
The purge valve to clear the heads feeds back to the WVO tank and I am definatly getting the WVO thinned out with diesel. What I think is happening is that it's about a pint of fuel on each cycle at idle and a gallon or so if it activates while I am driving. So while it is automatic it is definately over purging especially on very short trips if it double purges (using more diesel to purge then you burn of WVO).

I *always* forget that the PSD *DOES* have a return line to the tank. Im so used to the return line being on the fuel rail in a gasser, and the PSD has dead end fuel rails so I just eliminate the return loop out of my train of thought.
Your right, the oil in the filter would end up being purged fairly quickly, its just I never remember to factor in the return line.
I use nothing but the existing fuel filter & bowl. It depends on how you are driving for purge time. Running from 60-70ish, the veg or diesel is purged in 1 mile or so for my 1995. I can notice the change in engine noise when one or the other is purged. That would basically be in 60 to 90 seconds. I usually give myself 3-5 minutes before I stop somewhere just in case.
Forgive my ignorance, but what is being "purged" in what you guys are talking about? I thought you just dump the filtered WVO into the tank and let your fuel filtration/heater/water separation system do the rest. Do you have to purge the WVO from the fuel rails, IOW don't let it sit in the lines?
You are not supposed to use a higher than normal (diesel) viscosity fuel to start vehicle on. I know it will work, but not supposed to consistently. Search Internet for these studies for using ambient temp veg. You stop & start your pu on diesel, then switch to veg. To purge means to flush the fuel lines and connected equipment of a fluid. In this case it usually refers to switching to diesel several miles before you park so that the diesel will replace the veg oil in fuel system before stopping engine. That way the next time you start engine, it starts on normal fuel, diesel, then repeat cycle above.
Hardware45: When you start you start on dino diesel, you run on dino till your vegy system gets hot enough to use then change over. Before shuting down you purge your system of veg oil to be ready to start next time on dino. KHB1
