pre-wash issues

I have done the Pre-wash on the last 2 batches I have made. All batches have been from the same container of oil, from the same restarunt. I mist wash.

On both of the pre-washed batches, I have had the same issues; The wash water has been brown, not the milky white as without the pre-wash. It has also had a lot of "particulate" material in it. It looks like fine coffee grounds, but it is oil that is "clumped" together. It is floating on the water, and under the Biodiesel, not a seperate layer, but a film. A good mixing in the wash tank with HOT water, and a lot of it will sink into the water layer and can be drained off.

I am not sure if this has anything to do with the pre-wash. That is the only thing I have done differently on these two batches, other than do a blank titration before titrateing the oil. On the last batch, the Iso, and turmeric titrated to 1.

Thoughts or comments?

Re: pre-wash issues

I don't do the biodiesel, but with my WVO; I've found that heating the oil to well over 120 degrees makes it more friendly when working with it.
