Pro & Cons of Bio Diesel

I've noticed that a station or two here in Mississippi are acutally carrying Bio-diesel and I was wandering what the pros and cons are. What have you guys experianced? Do I need to make any changes to my turck?

What part of the state are in? I'm in the NE corner. I have been trying to get some at the refinery in Nettleton but evertime I can go they are out. I don't know if there are any stations around here or not. I have run 10 gallons of B100 through my 01 PSD. My dad got about 130 gallons and is running it straight in his 97 PSD. It quietened it down. One good pro is our money stays in the US and it's source is renewable. You shouldn't have to do any mods to run it. I don't think there are any cons other than a little higher nox(?) emmission from the truck. Some of the others can give you more.

Re: Pro & Cons of Bio Diesel

If you do use it, you will want to have a couple spare fuel filters. Bio will clean the gunk and residue left by the #2 from you r entire system. Other than that just fill it up.

Re: Pro & Cons of Bio Diesel

In your 99 you can run B100 without any problems. If the weather gets cold you will need to cut it with dino diesel. Like was said carry extra fuel filters. Keith

Re: Pro & Cons of Bio Diesel

Tons of pros, very few cons. THe biggest con is usually PRICE. B-100 (100% bio-diesel with no #2 mixed in) can get spendy because most commercial ventures use virgin oil. THose that make their own bio-d at home make it so cheap because they use free waste veggie oil.

Where in MS are you seeing it? The only places I have found in louisiana are WAYYYYYYYY up north.

I live south of Monticello in Lawrence county. The station I saw it at is on I-55 just south of Jackson at the Byrom exit, I believe. I think it's a BP/Amoco station but I don't remember I just saw the sign saying that they had it from the interstate.
