Yeah, its like $9k, but it is 100% automated. You put the ingredients in, push a button, come back in 24 hrs drain off glycerol, push another button, come back 24hrs later and pump 50gals of ASTM qaulity washed 100% biodiesel into your truck. Thats 50gals/48hrs with maybe 45mins total hands-on time.
Can you tell any difference in the biodiesel compared to petro diesel. As far as how the truck runs and performs.

I can't tell any difference between diesel, biodiesel or straight VO. The bio and VO do have slightly less energy content than diesel, so you'd prolly notice on the dyno (I'll let you know about that soon!), although the BUTT-dyno can't tell a difference.

The exhaust smell is suprisingly pleasant. Many times I have pulled up somewhere and gotten out of the truck and heard someone say "Man, someone's cookin' something good"

I was on the road the other day with the A/C on and got caught behind a semi that was burning VO... sure made me hungry for some McD's! Oh, and the difference between diesel and/or bio when compared to VO is simply viscosity... VO's thicker viscosity makes a diesel engine run smoother and quieter.

FYI: The only way to burn VO 100% safely is in an indirect injection (IDI) diesel engine like the older Benzo's or pre-Powerstroke engines... and for christ sake, don't EVER try burning the stuff in a Common-Rail injection engine unless you live and bought your car in Europe. With IDI, if any build-up occurs it's not likely to do so in the actual cylinder chamber but the pre-chamber where the fuel is injected and goes BOOM!!!. IDI is also better for cold start-ups on single tank systems!

The diesel engine was originaly created to burn peanut oil (or similar) which farmers could make themselfs thus making farming easier, cheaper, and more economical for the country! ...But we live in the good ol' US of A... why would the government EVER want to make life and the economy easier/better for it's citizens!?!?

If either Obama or McCain would put VO in pumps and legalize the good stuff ;-) they'd have my vote for sure!!!

Keep Truckin!
