Straight Vegetable Oil in a 6.9

I found a source for virgin vegetable oil for $1.00 per gallon. I live in central Arkansas where the nights seldom get below 20 degrees F in winter and the days are almost always above 40 degrees except for a cold spell or two. I would like to try running the SVO mixed with pump diesel at a ratio of 50/50. Do I need a fuel heater/warmer? IF so, can I make one? If not- which do you recommend to buy? I will put the 50/50 mix in one tank only perserving my other tank for pump diesel for starting and running a few seconds before I kill the engine. Do you think this is feasable or should I wait for warmer weather to try it? It will be 30 degrees tonight and a high of 49 tomorrow.

Re: Straight Vegetable Oil in a 6.9

I live in Alaska and I was running 30% veg until it got to 45-50 degrees and then it didn't like stating in the morning without being plugged in. I would onlu recommend it for summer time as I have heard of problems coking(the brownish black stuff you can never clean off of the bottom of your frying pan) up the injectors. Just a thought. Also you can safely run 20% biodiesl with #1 diesel down to 0 degrees. Hope it helps.
