Taco Pump

Finally picked up the 1" flanges and gaskets for a 007 someone gave me.
I am not confident the seals will hold up to biodiesel. Made from some red rubber like material. Anyone use these? Should I braze the flanges on instead?
Thanks

Just went to look at the pump and it has a nylon or plastic impeller. I thought they were all metal. Will the plastic hold up?

The plastic impeller should be OK.

If you're talking about the flange gaskets, you could track down some viton o-rings to use there. The red stuff is probably nitrile rubber (buna-N) which should be OK for a while. There's a lot of meat there, and they're not going to spring leaks immediately.

You may ruin the pump if you braze the flanges on.

If you braze on the pump, just remove the cartridge.

I had a Taco 007 on my venturi biodiesel processor and it didn't have the flow capacity for adequate mixing let alone to get the venturi to work right.

For a sub 40 gallon processor it should work fine, but for any batches larger than 30 gallons it probably won't be giving enough fluid mixing, meaning how many times it circulates the entire batch through the reactor.
