It's 220ml of methanol. Heet in the yellow bottle is pure methanol.
I use a glass kitchen measuring cup to measure out the methanol. Works great.

If I understand it, you are wanting to use a whole bottle of methanol? If so you would need 1775ml of oil. How much lye are you putting in the liter?
thanks that is the number i was looking for! i use the base of 5 and 1.5 more. i use a excel program that helps with my numbers but i just wanted some other ideas on useing the whole bottle! again thanks!!!!
one more a quart is 1.34l? or is it less? i found two places that list one has it as .95l the other is 1.3x? i work with numbers alot and unless i do what i know to be the right way to get the answer i get real confused real quick!!!!!!

If you are using 6.5 grams of lye to a 1000ml of oil you would need to use 11.5 grams for the 1775ml of oil. A quart equals to .94625L or 946.25ml.

well i must have better oil the first test made glop, then i lessen to 10 grams and some did not dissolve but i got a very good batch. what is the easy way to get meth/lye to dissolve? time? stirring? i use a mason jar and add the lye to the meth? what is being done on the large scale? i know i'll switch to koh

I am not producing on a big scale yet, but on the test batches I've made I use a jar and shake like crazy for a minute or two. It is not easy to get it all dissolved. I have not tried any KOAH yet, they say it works better.
For test batches it really helps to shake for about 5 to 10 minutes to get as much oil in contact with the alcohol and KOH.
Some use a blender that has a glass container to mix their test samples.
On KOH, I can attest to the effectiveness and ease of use. It really dissolves in the alcohol very quickly and speeds up the transesterfication of the oil into biodiesel.
While you will have to use a little more per batch, not having it turn into hard soap (as opposed to using NaOH), is a really big plus if you screw up. It's very tolerant of mistakes in the batch.
