Vegetable oil

If I were to buy new vegetable oil would it matter what kind I get? also what are the average prices of the oil?
Thanks
Joe

Mostly it's based on price. I don't think more expensive vegetable oil makes better fuel, it just tastes better in its natural state (but your engine doesn't care!) So I'd look for the cheapest, which I think is usually soy oil. If you look closely at the labels you'll notice almost all "vegetable oil" these days is soy oil.

Re: Vegetable oil

What Frobozz said, whatever is cheapest. Usually soy or Canola, but I got some year old peanut oil once really cheap. Expect to pay in excess of $3 per gallon tho. The 35# containers hold approx 4.4 gallons, and generally run $13 and up

Which reminds me: just after Thanksgiving, you may be able to find a bunch of people with used turkey fryer oil they're looking to get rid of. (I know a lot of the people that do that use peanut oil, which is what made me think of it.)

Re: Vegetable oil

Yeah, after other holidays too. Friend brought back several cubies from a block party near tahoe after independence day. That only used once peanut oil really spoils you
