It would take about 11 gallons of methanol to make that biodiesel, and the byproduct would be about 11 gallons of soap and glycerol . The 20% methanol replaces the glycerine that falls out during the transesterification process. So no, you cant make 55 gallons of bio-d out of 55 gallons of oil in a 55 gal drum. You need about 10 more gallons of room for the methoxide.
