This part of the board may be able to better answer your question:
Bio-Diesel and Alternative Fuels - Diesel Forum - The Diesel Stop.com

Also try here, lots of info about biodiesel and svo/wvo:
Biodiesel & SVO Forums - Powered by eve community

I know there are a few on both boards running bio but I am not sure svo.

I think that the dual tanks on these trucks would be ideal for a oil setup, but I prefer bio. Either way, good luck and happy reading.

Good luck

I run WVO in my 86 6.9 and my chevy 6.5, and my dad runs svo in his 93 7.3.
In the ford motors you have got to have dual tanks, and some type of fuel heater is recommended to save life of your filter. As far as performance, the only change i or my dad noticed was an increase in fuel mileage

ive done many svo conversions and the injection pump on the 6.9 (stanidine, spelled wrong in sure) is not well suited at all. i know first hand of 3 people who have done it with these and had trouble.

It can be done but the key is the temp of the fuel. As mentioned before the IP is not the most durable so you want to make sure the oil is good and warm before it gets to the IP.

While the 6.9 is a very durable engine, the IP is very sensitive to fuel viscosity. As stated before it can trash an IP if the fuel isn't properly heated or thinned.

Stick with biodiesel in your 6.9 and you'll be happy you did. I've torn down 3 6.2L and one 6.9 that was ruined by improper WVO usage. Coked injectors, plugged filters, and other garbage killed those engines.

If you must use WVO make sure it's filtered extremely well, blended with diesel (if you don't have a tank heating system) and watch your fuel filter like a hawk.

The 6.2s that I've torn down had a similar problem of the WVO getting into the crankcase and forming this peanut butter like jelly in the pan plugging the oil pump and starving the bearings of oil. Trashed crank, trashed mains, trashed engine.

Biodiesel solves those problems by keeping the experimentation off your truck and into your garage where you can get your process down to a science before you put it into your truck.
