Vormax vs. Dahl150

Was considering use of the Vormax filter for SVO, but Bob Riley mentioned to me yesterday that our injectors require 2 micron (nominal) filtration, which is smaller than any filter available for the Vormax. The Dahl unit that he sells filters to the 2u level. They are about the same cost (Vormax through Tymar, Dahl through Dieselsite).

Does anyone have any thoughts on this ? thanks!

Re: Vormax vs. Dahl150

What is the difference between the Dahl 150 and the 100? I have the 100 already and was wondering if it was suitable for use with WVO.

The Dahls you listed differ in flow rate: 60-85gph for the 100 and 80-100gph for the 150. There may be other differences that I'm unaware of.

Anyone have any comments regarding my original question ?

Re: Vormax vs. Dahl150

Nobody has concerns with respect to final filtration of wvo before injectors ?

Oh well.

Re: Vormax vs. Dahl150

I did, thats why I have a 2 micron final filter.

BTW I'm not a fan of filtration on the suction side of high pressure delivery systems..but thats why I strive to get my oil so clean before it goes in my tank.

Re: Vormax vs. Dahl150

Hi Brian,

I have a Dahl 150 (bought from Bob Riley, good people) that I use to triple filter my #2D. I pump into a aux tank then to a Racor 10u then into the Dahl 150 2u then into my main tank into the factory filter. I never fill my main tank at the pump.

With this filtering arangement, I don't put any additional strain on my existing stock fuel system.

I don't have enough time on the Dahl 150 2u to post about but with two Racor 3210S 10u filters I did not achive the filtering quality I wanted on #2D. I found a small amount of fine redish brown particles in the bottom of my factory fuel filter bowel at a 15k mile change. I only buy Flying J fuel so it was a filter problem and not where I buy my fuel problem.

Be forewarned that the Dahl 150 is a huge filter, about 15" long and 6" diameter. Makes my Racor 3210S filters look punnie but there just as long.

Re: Vormax vs. Dahl150

Hi Brian,

I'm trying to go 30k between stock Racor changes as well insure that I get life time usage from the original injectors, about 400k miles plus.

With the current filter arangement I sould be able to accomplish this no matter how bad the fuel gets or what fuel I run and that's Looking at it from a one time cost over 30yrs as I pre-bought filters for 400k miles of usage. I ran my last truck 27yrs.
