wash water disposal ?? - Diesel Forum

me and a buddy are thinking of making bio diesel(we are doing all the homework first)

what i want to know is how do i dispose of the glycerine and the wash water? is this stuff bio degradable, can i dump it right into the ground?

The ideal solution is to "recycle" the water buy using it on future batches. I usually stagger 2 batches being washed a day or two apart so I can use the wash water in the one that is farthest along first, and then pump it into the one that is behind. Cuts down on the water bill and is more efficient. As for the water that can't pickup anymore contaminates I just dump it down the sewer drain. Think about it, what you are washing is basically soap (the glycerin) out of the biodiesel. It's no more harmful than what your dish washer or clothes washer puts into the sewer, its just soapy water. Happy Brewing!
