What to change in order to run Bio Diesel

I am thinking of running some BIO. Do I need to change out some of the fuel lines or something? I recall reading someting about the BIO eating up some of the lines.

I have a '97 PSD.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: What to change in order to run Bio Diesel

I cannot confirm the following, but have been told by others who have run a B80 and B100, their fuel pumps quit, and had to change fuel filters every other fill up. Again, this may be some serious exageration on their part. This may be a better question posted in the alternative fuel/Biodiesel forum though. Good luck with any switch you choose. I know I've used B20 with no ill effects on numerous occations while traveling.

Re: What to change in order to run Bio Diesel

b20 you may need to change a couple of fuel filters it will clean your tanks...also the exhaust smells a lot less harsh compared to regular diesel...2 cents...

Re: What to change in order to run Bio Diesel

After running B100 for a while my return lines melted. There are many of us with 96 & 97s who have had this meltdown. Replaced the return lines with bioD compatible hose and problem solved.
With B20 you should not have this problem. Remove the plastic loam from the return lines to monitor.

Re: What to change in order to run Bio Diesel

I have been running certified B100 for approx 8,000 miles. Changed fuel filters twice. Just replaced fuel return lines from FPR with Dayco Gen2 lines as the originals were starting to "melt"! No other problems. Engine runs great once it is warmed up but that was the case with Dino Fuel. If I can sort out the winter gel problem, I will never run petroleum diesel fuel again!

Re: What to change in order to run Bio Diesel

Parker Hose has a biodiesel resistant fuel line that is quite good.

If you have a Parker dealer in your area they should be able to find some or have it in stock.

Re: What to change in order to run Bio Diesel

the old ford are notorious for breaking off pickup lines, thats why many owners dont venture below a 1/4 of a tank. B-100 was unlikely the problem.

B100 was not the problem. They all do that.
