What do bulk prices of biodiesel look like compared to regular diesel?? - Diesel Forum

Bio compared to regular diesel, what are the differences in bulk pricing? Is one more expensive than the other? B20? B100? Thanks, Phillip

The only place around here is selling B100, but not in bulk, for $3.40/gal. These guys are getting it from a company in the DFW area which I think does sell it in bulk. Here is the link: http://www.distributiondrive.com/

I don't know what kind of mark up is in that $3.40, but it and road taxes must be figured in there somewhere.

Locally, Phoenix Organic will sell 55g & under @ $2.90/g off road. 55-300g $2.80/g, >300, $2.65. (you supply the containers).

Our local cardlock station just went to $2.80/g off road & $3.20 w/ road tax.

#2 retail is $2.30/g. Don't know about bulk.

Im working on a price, red B100 in a 55g drum is 3.80/g.

Im working on a better price.

Sorry, Ive got no idea for bulk, but I just got an updated price for B100 in 55g quantities. 3.43/g for B100. 2.48 for B20.

I would assume that Walmart Law applies here too. The more, the cheaper.

None of us use enough Bio to have that kind of information. Pheonix organic get theirs delivered by container truck W/ 300g carboys in it. Hays get it by railcar, and has an U/G storage tank. If you need a railcar, try www.biodiesel.org

There might also be better info in the regional sections of www.biodieselnow.com

Well, I don't know that I would need that much anytime soon. I could see buying 500-1000gal at a time though. I use about 90gal. or so a week in my truck for driving to school. If I could get fuel at a better price and it was biodiesel,that would make it that much better. -Phillip

IMHO, I think the only way you are going to get it cheaper than #2, is to make it yourself....

I'm not yet comfortable trying homemade brew in my new $45k truck. Although I may go with the b5, which is the most Ford will allow...
