Does anyone believe that enough drive time has been put into testing Canola as an alternative fuel?
I am about to buy a 1999 f250 diesel 7.3L and want to know more about this new age conversion kits.
Well, if you buy it straight off the shelf and dump it into your tank, I don't think it's cost effective,,,,,,
How ever if you get it free from the restaurants after they have used it for their fryer, then it's EXTREMELY cost efficient.....
Buying a kit, or building your own.... either way I know a guy who runs it, and has had no issues yet.....(Well, he did have a fuel pump issue I guess,,,,)

I've been filtering and then pouring used canola oil into my front fuel tank. I put a piece of cordboard ove 1/2 of my radiator to get it to heat up quicker. Once the motor is warm I switch from rear tank (100% diesel) to front tank 100% used canola oil with no problems. No conversion kit, no heaters. I switch back to rear tank when I about 1/2 from home.

I have over 100k on WVO in my truck and 35k in wife's Excursion. One of the keys to success is adequately heating the VO. We see 180-200* VO before the engine in our trucks and never switch over until engine is HOT. Do yourself a favor and buy a DFA or Frybrid system and enjoy nearly-free fuel from then on. You WILL get your money back if ya drive much and buying a system means it will work 100% on the first 'try'.
There are other companies out there selling 'cheaper' 'kits'. I have seen them all and I promise - there is nothing to compare...
DFA or Frybrid (uses DFA's V3 module) are worth every penny when quality counts!

Ok got a question....I'm just a guy that likes to cook. I sometimes deep fry with canola or vetable oil. If I filter it, can I then just poor it into my tank with the diesel and drive off. lets say a mixture of about 1 gallon of oil to 40 gallons of diesel??
Thanks
Jim

Excellant way to replace the lost lubricity of the ULSD fuel.

That is how I got started with canola oil. I've put about 40 gallons of canola, and soyo oil threw the front tank of my truck so far. I just filter it then pour into the tank. No conversion, no tank heater, no nothing but just some card board in front of 1/2 of the radiator.
