will this work

Im thinking of changing my system wanted to know if you all thought this would work? This is a stock 98 E-350 7.3 turbo. I have a duel system (two elec. fuel pumps and two filters ) mounted under the frame. Heated wvo tank in the rear. In the vally of the block I have the fuel manifold with the check valves going into the back of the heads. Out the front to the fuel pressure reg. to the pullock valve back to the tank. What I want to know is if I could put the stock mechanical fuel pump back on and run from the fuel manifold to the high pressure side of the mec. pump to the heads? hope I have explained this well enough . Thanks for any input. What I would really like to know is would the mechanical fuel pump put back pressure on my a1000 pump and over heat it? Or would it help it? also is there any reason I cant use only the high pressure side of the mecanical pump and not the low pressure side?
