Willie Nelson Brings Another BD sSource Close to DFW......
Here is another email I got from a BD mailing list from which I am a member of.
Dear DFW Biodiesel Fans,
We have opened up the first public B20 Biodiesel pump in Texas. It is located at Carl’s Corner truck stop, off I-35, between Dallas and Waco, see the enclosed press release for more details if you want to read the official blurb that will be going out to the press in the morning.
This groundbreaking step has been done in partnership with Willie Nelson, the legendary country singer and Carl Cornelius, the owner of Carl’s Corner. This is obviously very exciting for me as I don’t get to hang out with famous folks too often and especially ones that want to help promote Biodiesel’s use in Texas. We have also put a longer article on the Distribution Drive web site that talks a little more about Carl’s Corner and the Willie Nelson connection if you have the time to read this in more depth: http://www.distributiondrive.com/Article19.html.
If you are on I-35, please stop in and get a tank full at Carl’s Corner. This patronage will help make a success out of this venture, so that other retail gas stations will follow Carl’s lead in making a B20 Biodiesel blend available to the public.
If anyone gets to go over there please post back with the date/time/price you got it. With Petro-Based Diesel runniong about 2.09 / gallon here it may be worth the drive.

After seeing a certain film about how stinkin rich the saudis have gotten off of our need for oil, I would happily spend the little difference to see my $$ go to a farmer from the US.
Good for Uncle Willy! BTW, I saw a pic of him next to a new CDI Benz filling it up with B100. Talk about no regard for warranty......

Peter from the email told me on the phone that they are working twoards passing some kind of legislation that would reduce or furlow road taxes on biodiesel. He also said if it is a go then it will cost about as much as red-dye petro-diesel.
I wish we could get together on some petition to get this thing going. I'm paying alot more for petro-diesel than I would be for regular unleaded gasoline. Meanwhile if someone uses a so-called alternative fuel car such as propane, electric, or petro-electric hybrid they get a tax brak. Why should'nt we.
BTW, all the aboved mentioned alternative fuels still run on petroleum. The propane is petro-gas, most electricity is generated from petro and hybrids run on gasoline. So why are they recognized as alternatives when they clearly are not yet biodiesel and XVO are not?

I agree. Where is a good place to get information about the pending legislation or any tax-breaks out there already? Maybe this information can be useful in getting other stations to start carrying Bio or blends if they can recognize a cost advantage, especially with dino over $2.00 here in Austin.

Until the price of soybeans comes down, don't count on the price of bio being anywhere near off-road #2. Around here, off-road bio is still 30 - 40 cents more expensive than taxed diesel, and closer to 80 cents more than off-road #2.
Petro has too many subsidies built into it, and the way China is buying raw beans, I don't see a price drop, until we can get other oil feedstocks in the process.

It passed the senate and would ammount to .01 per % of bio per gallon, in other words, b20 would get a .20 per gallon discount.
