Basically, its clean, clear, thin diesel.

www.coleman.com/coleman/msds/kerosene.pdf

It's running about $3.39 to 3.79 a gallon in Squanderville.

Just a term based on #1 fuel oil which is kerosene.
JP8 is its avaition cousin which is more finely refined and has a higher TU rating.

# 2 Fuel Oil is Diesel

# 3 Fuel oil is not made any more but is much like 10w motor oil.

# 4 Fuel Oil is Crude oil - what the old big ships like the Qween Mary ran.

The numbers go up to 8 or so as per an engineering book. Meaning #8 takes high heat just to get it to ignite

Mixing at about 33% K-1 and 66% WMO resulted in a SG of .85.
Please keep us updated on how it runs. Do you see any potential problems using this instead of diesel or are you going to add diesel before running in your vehicle. Thanks for the info and research.

I bought another 25 gallons Friday. I found a place that has clear K-1, no red dye. I have 12 gallons premixed (33%K-1/66%wmo) and will fill up tomorrow. I have only had the 240D for 2 weeks and it had some things to fix but its done now. I'll drain the tank, clean the fuel screen, and replace the pre-filter before I fill up.

you have just effectively cut your fuel bill by 66%. Sound like a winner

A lot of the 240D's (2.4L) got motor replacements at 250k or so mi and one trick was to save $1,500 and put in a bolt up 220D (2.2L) refirb. My old 220D got 42 highway and 30 city.
--
I was sucking off 50 more gallons of WMO from a friends shop and he told me that his old oil is about 60% Mobile 1 synthetic and 20% ATF and 5% or so hydro and brake fluids. He said all the newer mercedes he services use Mobil1 only. I think I'll double the amount of Xylene I've been using (to 4oz per 10 gal) to help break down the polymers.

I really like it. Its a 2.4L engine (67hp). My best mileage so far was 32 mpg on the highway with ac off.

100 miles on the blend now. The only difference is the exhaust smell, it smells like the hangar! LOL! I am going to mix the next batch thicker (.87).

Wmo

Hey guys - long time - been busy with too many other projects.... in the middle of a kitchen remodel now... yuck.

We've also taken the diesel benz plunge - we picked up a high mile '95 D300 diesel with a few blemishes for a good deal - and I hope I can learn about that thing like I did here on my '97 powerstroke.

I have a waste oil furnace in my shop - so I already have an ample supply.

For the first 10 gallons I ran mixed at less than 50/50 in my powerstroke - I ran the furnace pump and filters to fill 5 gallon fuel cans --- it took forever, so I need to come up with another pump.

I'm also thinking about running more waste transmission fluid to help reduce the viscosity of the mix - I've heard that some guys run 100%WATF with good results.

What are good pumps to use -- thanks for the filter information above - can't loose with a Lowes water filter as a first stage!
Does PCV pipe work OK with WMO??

My test diesel measured .84 on the hydrometer.
Where does one obtain such a hydrometer? Is this the same thing we used to test battery acid with about 30 years ago?
